Try and love one another - right now : Didn't the youngbloods get that one right? Interracial romance is not for everyone. Some teenagers hold back out of fear, others hesitate to cross one of the most bitter taboos in our sexual history as a nation. Still others might have been seared by social innuendo and negativity, such as the racist malarkey of race supremacists, and all their obscenity of a racial sort, the trash talk about miscegenation and the extinction of the white race. Any knowledgeable person can tell you that all that talk is sheer crap. There is scant danger to the white race "disappearing" or becoming extinct in America. We are hardly an endangered species, even with so much "blending" going on all over. Not that some races are not endangered. But those at risk ethnicities, like the Comanches, the Kiowa, the Sauk, and several other tribes, face extinction not merely from low birth rates, but from threats of assimilation, intermarriage with the mainstream ethnicities, and sometimes, sheer cultural forgetfulness. Of interest is the discussion by Lafcadio Hearn. Actually, the most endangered people, in the history of the west, have probably been the Jewish people, who faced not only continual threats of assimilation, intermarriage, and forced conversions by tyrants and bullies of history, but also the perpetual possibility of genocide itself. Yet the Jewish people, perhaps more than any other single factor after Greco-Roman civilization itself, are and have been the greatest benefactors, the primary positive influence on Europe and the history of the West. At any rate, America's white "race" is not at risk from the attraction that youth find in "looking out the window." Our white "racial purity" is illusion. America is and always has been a melting pot, a veritable kaleidoscope of diversity. Our bloodlines are already far more multiracial than most of us imagine. Youth, in dating outside their race, pose no danger, save to white pride, or the supposed "loss of control" that white patriarchy fears with the changing of times.

Why cannot the younger generation reach out and touch other people's hands? It's no secret that fear often dictates the rules that keep people apart. Yet the Bible says we are all one blood. Our moral bosses often tell us not to be unequally yoked, and of course that's true. Elijah Muhammed tells black men to watch out for the sinister white Delilah and all her subtle wiles. How sad that white Delilah's in America's history have indirectly caused untold lynchings and beatings and mutilations and murders of innocent black men, not just in the South, but all over. Emmit Till paid with his life for what? Paying a white girl the most innocent and oldest of compliments, telling her she was pretty? Wasn't his real crime the fact that white man wanted to own and dominate not only his wife and daughters, but wanted to dominate anyone else they showed in real or imagined (or even potential) interest in. Why can't we see, it is white man's insecurity that is the key to understanding racism. 
If interracial love is wrong, then Moses was an arch offender when he married an Ethiopian. King David's grandfather was an arch offender when he married the beautiful Moabitess, Ruth. And Krishna, the black god of ancient India, was an arch offender when he mated with so many adoring white maidens of the pastoralist nomad people from the north. Were they "unequally yoked" -- or were they obeying their destiny?
If the greatest examples in history yielded to Cupid's arrow, and dared to cross the racial divide, then why can't the teenagers of our own day at least reach out in the darkness, and meet, greet, people of a different race.
There is enough tragedy already through hate and prejudice, all thru history. Wars, slavery, lynchings, whippings, brandings, floggings, hangings, beatings, castrations, chain gangs, Tom Crowism, the KKK. Remember what hate, fear, and prejudice did to another couple in love -- Romeo and Juliet. His family hated her family, and her family hated his family. Old hates were more important than new love. The adult world did not learn their lesson till they had sacrificed the lives of two innocent teenagers, whose only crime was falling in love across the divide.
Why can't we learn our lesson?
